DHFR Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects DHFR protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-DHFR antibody (A-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) plays a vital role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the NADPH-dependent reduction of dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate, which is essential for the synthesis of purines, pyrimidines, and certain amino acids. DHFR (A-9) antibody targets a protein crucial in cancer therapy, as inhibiting DHFR activity can lead to DNA synthesis cessation and cell death, making DHFR a critical focus in chemotherapeutic agent development. Expression of methotrexate-resistant DHFR variants in normal hematopoietic cells represents a promising strategy to enhance methotrexate treatment efficacy by reducing toxicity in sensitive normal tissues, enabling higher therapeutic doses.
