HADHSC Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects HADHSC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-HADHSC antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HADHSC protein, also known as hydroxyacyl-Coenzyme A (CoA) dehydrogenase, short chain, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism as HADHSC is essential for the β-oxidation of medium and short-chain fatty acids. Located in the mitochondrial matrix, HADHSC exists as a homodimer and catalyzes the conversion of 3-hydroxyacyl-CoAs to their corresponding 3-ketoacyl-CoAs while reducing NAD+ to NADH. This enzymatic activity is vital for energy production and metabolic regulation, and defects in HADHSC can lead to serious metabolic disorders such as HADH deficiency and familial hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia 4 (HHF4). Patients with HADH deficiency may experience a range of symptoms, including hepatoencephalopathy, hypoglycemia, myopathy, or cardiomyopathy, and in severe cases, sudden death. HHF4 is characterized by excessive insulin secretion, which can result in recurrent hypoglycemia episodes that, if untreated, may lead to brain damage.
