SEE ALSO...

KiSS-1 Antibody (24-Q) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects KiSS-1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KiSS-1 (24-Q) antibody is available as a non-conjugated format. KiSS-1, consisting of 145 amino acids, plays a crucial role in suppressing the metastasis of melanomas and breast carcinomas while leaving tumorigenicity unaffected, making KiSS-1 an important target for cancer research. The human KiSS-1 gene is located on chromosome 1q32 and is primarily expressed in the brain and placenta, highlighting KiSS-1′s potential involvement in neuroendocrine signaling and reproductive functions. Notably, KiSS-1 contains a polyproline-rich domain that serves as a ligand for SH3 domains and features a putative phosphorylation site for protein kinase C-alpha, which may influence KiSS-1′s regulatory functions in cellular signaling pathways. Additionally, KiSS-1 has been shown to reduce the binding of NFkappaB p50/p65 to the MMP-9 promoter, correlating with decreased expression of MMP-9, a key player in extracellular matrix remodeling and cancer progression. Furthermore, KiSS-1 exhibits agonist activity on the orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR54, indicating KiSS-1′s potential role in mediating various physiological responses.

Can sc-101246: KiSS-1 (24-Q) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-101246: KiSS-1 (24-Q) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
