P504S Antibody (2A10F3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects P504S in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. P504S (2A10F3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. P504S, also known as AMACR (α-methylacyl-CoA racemase), is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the metabolism of branched-chain fatty acids and bile acid intermediates. P504S is localized in the peroxisome and mitochondrion, where P504S catalyzes the conversion of pristanoyl-CoA and C27-bile acyl-CoAs to their (S)-stereoisomers, which are essential for subsequent degradation via peroxisomal β-oxidation. Proper functioning of P504S is vital, as mutations in the gene encoding this enzyme can lead to AMACR deficiency, resulting in elevated levels of pristanic acid and associated disorders such as adult-onset sensory motor neuropathy and congenital bile acid synthesis defect type 4, characterized by intrahepatic cholestasis and neonatal jaundice. Furthermore, P504S is overexpressed in prostate cancer, highlighting P504S′s potential role in promoting cancer cell growth and making P504S a significant target for research in cancer biology.
