PRODH Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PRODH protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-PRODH antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PRODH, or proline dehydrogenase, is a 516 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the first step in proline degradation, converting proline to delta-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate. This enzymatic activity is induced during p53-mediated apoptosis, linking PRODH to cellular stress responses and programmed cell death. Defects in PRODH can lead to hyperprolinemia type 1, a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated serum proline levels, and may also contribute to psychiatric and behavioral issues associated with DiGeorge syndrome. Localized in the mitochondrial matrix, PRODH shows predominant expression in lung, brain, and skeletal muscle, with lower expression levels in heart, liver, kidney, and pancreas. PRODH exists as two isoforms generated through alternative splicing, which may have distinct functional implications in various tissues.
