SURF-6 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SURF-6 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SURF-6 antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SURF-6, or Surfeit locus protein-6, is a 361 amino acid protein predominantly localized to the granular components of the nucleolus, a critical site for ribosome biogenesis. The nucleolus plays a vital role in synthesizing ribosomal RNA and assembling ribosomal subunits, making SURF-6 essential for proper cellular function. SURF-6 expression is tightly regulated throughout the cell cycle, and studies have shown that cells lacking SURF-6 are nonviable in mice, underscoring SURF-6′s importance in ribosome assembly and cell cycle progression. Additionally, human SURF-6 exhibits structural similarities with orthologs in fish and mice, indicating an evolutionarily conserved function across species. The gene encoding SURF-6 is located on chromosome 9 within the Surfeit gene locus, one of the most densely packed gene clusters in the human genome, highlighting SURF-6′s potential significance in genetic regulation and cellular processes.
