Usherin Antibody (G-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Usherin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Usherin (G-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Usherin is a membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed in the capillary and structural basement membranes of the retina and inner ear, as well as in the spleen, oviduct, epididymis, testis, and intestines. Usherin′s critical role in the development of the inner ear and retina underscores its importance in maintaining sensory functions, while expression in other organs highlights a contribution to overall homeostasis. Notably, Usherin undergoes post-translational modifications, including glycosylation, which are essential for stability and function; these modifications can influence protein interactions and cellular localization, thereby affecting Usherin′s role in cellular signaling and structural integrity. Usherin interacts with fibronectin in retinal basement membranes and is stabilized by Collagen IV in testicular basement membranes, illustrating a complex network of interactions vital for tissue architecture. Mutations in Usherin have been linked to Usher syndrome type IIa, a condition characterized by moderate to severe congenital sensorineural hearing loss accompanied by retinitis pigmentosa, resulting from disrupted adhesion forces critical for the organization of hair bundles in sensory cells.
