SA-1 Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SA-1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SA-1 (A-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SA-1, also known as STAG1, plays a crucial role in the cohesion complex, which is essential for proper segregation of sister chromatids during cell division. This multi-protein structure maintains chromatid cohesion after DNA replication and participates in mitotic spindle pole assembly. SA-1, a 1258 amino acid protein, interacts directly with Rad21, forming a heterodimer with SMC1 and SMC3, which are linked at their heads by Rad21. Localized primarily in the nucleus, SA-1 associates with chromatin and undergoes phosphorylation by Polo-like kinase (Plk), triggering dissociation from chromatin and facilitating accurate chromosome separation during anaphase. As a human homolog of yeast Scc3p, SA-1 shows predominant expression in thymus, bone marrow, and spleen, exhibiting 99% similarity to its mouse counterpart, highlighting evolutionary conservation and importance in cellular processes.
