ODC Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ODC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ODC (E-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) is a crucial enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of ornithine to putrescine, marking the first step in polyamine biosynthesis, which is vital for cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. ODC regulation is tightly controlled, as ODC overexpression is linked to increased cell proliferation and cancer development. Notably, ODC promoter is influenced by several transcription factors, including Sp1, c-Myc, and c-Fos, which act as transactivators, while ZBP-89 serves as a transrepressor. Furthermore, elevated levels of polyamines can lead to a feedback mechanism that downregulates ODC activity through enhanced translation of antizyme mRNA, which subsequently binds to ODC monomers, targeting them for degradation by the 26S proteasome. ODC gene is located on human chromosome 2p25, and ODC expression is associated with angiogenesis, as ODC-overexpressing cells have been shown to suppress Type XVIII collagen and endostatin expression, thereby promoting endothelial cell proliferation. anti-ODC antibody (E-6) availability in various formats makes this product an essential tool for researchers studying ODC role in cellular processes and disease mechanisms.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-398116 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nonspecific in Drosophila Ovaries and TestisThis antibody was used for immunohistochemistry of Drosophila Testis and Ovaries. The using concentrations tested were 1:100 and 1:300. A validated staining protocol was used with additional, non-interfering control antibodies. Testis were used as a positive control for known cytoplasmic ODC expression, ovaries were used as a negative control for no/low ODC expression. This was corroborated by previously published work and additional unpublished work from our lab.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Working antibody for human tissuesThis ODC antibody works fine in WB with human liver, but not in mouse tissues. The datasheet claims to recognize mouse, rat, and human origin of ODC. Thus, It gets 3-stars.
